Most of the worlds democracies use parliamentary systems of government.  I am providing this example of a real Brazilian election because Brazil does not have a parliamentary system of government.  It's system of government is closer to that of the U.S.  In political science, both the U.S.A. and Brazil would be called either a presidential or republican forms of government.

Federal Republic of Brazil - Lower House Results

Most of the worlds democracies use parliamentary systems of government.  I am providing this example of a real Brazilian election because Brazil does not have a parliamentary system of government.  It's system of government is closer to that of the U.S.  In political science, both the U.S.A. and Brazil would be called either a presidential or republican forms of government. Brazil's president has extensive executive powers and is both head of state and head of government, just like in the U.S.  Both nations president and vice president are elected on the same ticket by popular vote for four-year terms.

Brazilian Federal Senate
The Brazilian Federal Senate consists of 81 seats, of which three members from each state, or federal district, are elected according to the principle of majority to serve eight-year terms; one-third elected after a four-year period,  two-thirds elected after the next four-year period.

Chamber of Deputies - Lower House
The 513 member Chamber of Deputies has a similar function to our House of Representatives, however it has only one electoral district with all 513 seats, whose members are elected by this highly proportional form of representation to serve four-year terms.
